This was our first order here, as we had been given a voucher. Coronaconform ordered everything online and was there at 4 p.m. Very friendly staff, very friendly welcome. The meals were ready on the agreed date. Everything in, as far as possible, packed in paper cups and cardboard packaging. Paper bags and cups as well. Napkins made from recy. Paper. Wooden spoon. So try as much as you can - to use ecologically acceptable products to pack your meals. The dishes were all very tasty and very tasty. The dessert (banana cream) delicious. The homemade lemonade is a taste explosion. In short, a really great address and a really great restaurant with food and drinks that are fun and positively surprise. After a conference at the University of Frankfurt, we went to "In the heart of Africa" ​​with typical dishes that evening. The ambience is very successful. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality. You will definitely get full and will certainly have an unforgettable experience compared to other more classic restaurants.

Best African food in Frankfurt

The very authentic ambience of "In the Heart of Africa" ​​ensures a pleasant feeling. The food (mixed platter with homemade lemonade) tastes excellent, fresh and the staff doesn’t like a smile, was always friendly and has always responded to our requests. I can absolutely recommend it and therefore give it 5 stars!

Myself and a friend came across the nice little restaurant by chance. When we first walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by the exotic interior. We fell in love instantly. The conditions were super mega nice, explained the dishes and customs to us. The food was awesome. Different variations and a good first African meal at good prices. We can only recommend it!

It was my first African meal here and I didn't know exactly what to expect, but it was awesome! The four of us got a plate with all 7 components on offer and it was just delicious! We sat comfortably outside and the staff is very friendly, quick, helpful, unobtrusive and attentive. The interior also looked really nicely furnished, you felt like you were in another world and there was even a small area for children. It's a shame we're not from Frankfurt, but we'll definitely be back again. A top recommendation and a well deserved 5 * :)

Basically a nice place, with a nice atmosphere, the inside looks very individual, alternative. The service was nice, the prices reasonable. Sitting outside is not particularly nice as it is right on the street, but still bearable. The food varied, small menu, nicely presented, you will be full. In terms of taste, you shouldn't look forward to too much. The beef is partly too dry, tastes similar to the can. The hot sauces, however, taste good. The lentils taste okay, the classic bread is delicious and sometimes a different taste. The menu was initially incomprehensible, it does not appear from it that you have to take three meat and two vegetarian in order to pay the really cheap price of 13.50. Otherwise there is not much to criticize, cashing in was easy. I definitely recommend having eaten there once, it is advisable to reserve for inside first, believe that the opinion is highly subjective and can turn out differently. The bottom line was that I was satisfied.

The sand on the floor alone gives the restaurant a unique atmosphere. The painted walls and the rustic furnishings allow you to immerse yourself in the African world. The super nice staff recommended the mixed platter with all the house specialties to us (3 people). Traditionally thin bread is served with it, which makes it easier to enjoy the delicious food. Because: There is no cutlery. There you can really get your fingers dirty without being looked at crookedly. Of course, there are enough napkins at every table so that you can always clean your hands. For dessert there was a homemade banana pudding, which rounded off this experience well. Clear recommendation!

Ok food, really costly, cool people.

Amazing food and drinks, even nom alcoholic. I had the matcha iced tea and was super happy with the not-too-sweet but flavorful creation. I must say, I felt the food at the Mainz location was better, but was still really content at the end of the meal. Would 100% recommend.

This is a really popular restaurant and it's difficult to get seats if you are going in a big group, so it is better to always make a reservation! Food is great, but the injera is limited and costs €0.50 per extra piece. Colorful decor and friendly staff.

The restaurant wants to provide you with an authentic African experience. However, I would have enjoyed my meal more with fork and knife. Eating the creamy dishes with my fingers was too messy for me.

We have been here for 3 times over the last 4 Years and at the first time it was a wow 🤩 Moment the second time was ok’ish and the third time was meh 😒 still the same experience nothing new and no new tast. Maybe the chef could change up some of the options and look for a bigger dessert 🍨 option!

This restaurant came highly recommended to me, but I'm not sure what the whole hype is about. The different foods are acceptable, but after a while the bread/wrap-kinda thing you get instead of utensils really gets greasy and the flavour is not very good anymore.
